The bi-annual In-Tend user group was held during November and was attended by over sixty public sector buyers from a range of organisations. Due to the success of In-Tend the user group has now been split into two separate events one for the Higher Education Sector and another for Local Government.

Derventio demonstrated the latest version of In-Tend which included the OJEU e-Sender module which has now passed its extensive testing process. The e-Sender allows organisations to reduce the time period on OJEU notices by using an XML gateway.

Also shown was a preview of v2.8 which is scheduled for release in early 2008, this version includes a range of new exiting items to further compliment the already feature rich application.

The user group is an ideal gathering for In-Tend users to voice comment and opinions on procurement matters and how they affect In-Tend. It was good see a lot of new faces. The support department, managed by Derventio, was congratulated for its continued excellent support.

Derventio Solutions are pleased to announce a new strategic partnership arrangement with Shireland Collegiate Academy to co-develop a range of education solutions for the educational market.

The first offering SmartForms will allow educational establishments to manage and compile any electronic form in a simple to use environment. Questions can then be managed with work flow, evidence and a complete revision history maintained.

The first form to be delivered using SmartForms will be Self-Evaluation Forms (SEF). Managing the SEF using SmartForms will allow schools to successfully manage the OFSTED report on a daily basis keeping a history of all amendments and documentation as evidence against each of the questions. The document is then always available for submitting. Using SmartForms the SEF becomes an integral tool for the school to help in its performance.

We see the SmartForms as being the first in a line of applications to be co-developed with Shireland for the education sector over the next few years. The first version is currently being tested and will be showcased at the BETT 2008 exhibition.

August has been a busy month with In-Tend continuing to increase its customer base in the higher education sector. University of Central England and University of Wolverhampton have selected In-Tend to manage their electronic tendering. In-Tend continues to be the chosen solution for universities in the UK.

Derventio Solutions have delivered the first phase of a new education software package designed to allow students to set learning goals and ambitions.

As part of the National Curriculum, students at all levels of education are encouraged to set goals and milestones for the academic year which allow their mentors to provide help and assistance in achieving these targets.

The software has been commissioned by Sir Mark Grundy of Shireland Collegiate Academy, an 11-19 inner city college in the West Midlands with over 1000 pupils, and the system has already been piloted successfully during May and June. As a result it will now go live in the new school year beginning September 2007 initially in over 300 secondary schools.

The results of the pilot have been very encouraging especially the student-mentor interaction, blogging features and grouping functionality for mentors and classes. The potential market for this is huge as there are over 10,000 secondary schools in the UK and they could all benefit from using this software.
