Derventio Solutions are pleased to announce a new strategic partnership arrangement with Shireland Collegiate Academy to co-develop a range of education solutions for the educational market.

The first offering SmartForms will allow educational establishments to manage and compile any electronic form in a simple to use environment. Questions can then be managed with work flow, evidence and a complete revision history maintained.

The first form to be delivered using SmartForms will be Self-Evaluation Forms (SEF). Managing the SEF using SmartForms will allow schools to successfully manage the OFSTED report on a daily basis keeping a history of all amendments and documentation as evidence against each of the questions. The document is then always available for submitting. Using SmartForms the SEF becomes an integral tool for the school to help in its performance.

We see the SmartForms as being the first in a line of applications to be co-developed with Shireland for the education sector over the next few years. The first version is currently being tested and will be showcased at the BETT 2008 exhibition.

Development of Shireland Collegiate Academies Individual Learning Plan application is gathering pace as development partners Derventio Solutions move into the second phase of functionality development in readiness for the new school year in September.

Already at the end of the last school year, Derventio had provided Shireland Collegiate Academy Learning and the schools on the Shireland Collegiate Academy Learning Gateway, a fully functional and easy to use ILP, which allows students and teachers to collaborate on targets and gather evidence in an electronic portfolio.

In September, the company will install the latest version of the software, adding features including the following:

  • A publishable CV page for each student
  • Customisation of goals with supporting documents and links
  • An MIS import facility to allow data such as attendance to be added to students' goal areas
  • Improved communication between mentors and students, including goal reminders

Phase one of the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) product for Shireland Collegiate Academy, was successfully integrated into The Shireland Collegiate Academy Learning Gateway, in readiness for the initial pilot scheme.

The software will be piloted during June with pupils at the college and will go live in the new school year beginning September 2007.

Derventio Solutions have been selected by Shireland Collegiate Academy in Sandwell, Birmingham, one of the largest 11-19 Trust Schools in the country, to develop a system to manage Individual Learning Plans (ILP) for their students.

The system will allow all students on their Learning Gateway portal to create an Individual Learning Plan of short and long term goals that they can then work towards achieving. The student will collaborate with one or more mentors who will monitor the student's progress towards achieving those goals and offer help and guidance where appropriate.

The ILP is the first in a long line of educational projects which Derventio and Shireland Collegiate Academy expect to partner on over the coming years. Shireland Collegiate Academy have selected Derventio Solutions due to their extensive knowledge of the education sector and proven record of deliverying quality software applications.
